South’s All-Steinway Initiative
Scroll through to enjoy these video messages from students, alumni and faculty.
The University of South Alabama seeks to become an “All-Steinway School,” meaning that students receive instruction exclusively on Steinway pianos. South is committed to excellence in music education and strives to join more than 200 institutions of distinction across the globe that display the All-Steinway School symbol. To receive this designation, 90% of South’s acoustic pianos must be Steinway & Sons, Boston or Essex pianos, and the University must have an approved maintenance program in place.
Four Key Advantages to an All-Steinway Designation
As an All-Steinway School, South will strengthen and enhance overall performance quality by:
- providing students with the best instruments possible for the study of music.
- satisfying the high expectations of piano faculty.
- enhancing the performance levels of piano students.
- having a positive effect on national accreditations.
- giving students an edge in competitions.
Invest in the Steinway Initiative
Please consider investing in South’s All-Steinway Initiative by making a gift of support today. Gifts at any level will allow the University of South Alabama Department of Music to continue its commitment to excellence in piano performance.
Entire-Piano Donors
Contributions may be made to purchase an entire piano. Donors will be recognized with a commemorative plaque on their piano as a way to memorialize or pay tribute to a family member or loved one, to honor a graduate or faculty member, or to recognize a loyal supporter. Donors at this level will also be recognized on the Steinway donor wall in the ¼ϲʿ Laidlaw Performing Arts Center.
