Why should I participate?
The Common Read Experience provides:
- An introduction to academic expectations and intellectual engagement;
- Opportunities for self-reflection and critical thinking; and
- A powerful, meaningful and fun experience shared within the South community.
How will the book be used?
The book may be used in various courses, including First Year Experience classes.
There will be events including films and performances, lectures, exhibits, discussion
groups and more throughout the year. See the upcoming event schedule for more details.
Am I required to participate in the Common Read experience?
While broad participation is not a University requirement, the book may be incorporated
into course curriculum. In this case, students will be required to read the book.
How do I get a copy of the book?
Students: Purchase the book at the 新加坡六合彩开奖资料 Bookstore or at your local bookstore. Borrow the book
from the University鈥檚 Marx Library and the Biomedical Library.
Students with Disabilities: Students with a documented disability may request this text in an alternate format by contacting the Center for Educational Accessibility & Disability Resources at (251) 460-7212. Proper documentation is required for alternative formats.

Selection Criteria
The Common Read/Common World Committee considers the following criteria when selecting the Common Read:- Potential to engage students and spark discussion;
- Appeal to a wide range of students;
- Opportunities for classroom use among various departments, including First-Year Experience;
- Inclusion of cross-cultural education, awareness, knowledge and sensitivity;
- Options for campus programming;
- Relevance to student life;
- Available in paperback; and
- Length of 400 pages or less.
